I know a lot of people like to think we here at Brooklyn Bass are a bunch of club going party kids. I like to think not. We do put a lot of work on keeping up with what’s happening in the underground club scene, but we also like to take time to hear bedroom/headphone style records as well. That actually might be my personal preference.

R&B and bass music seems to be a popular trend that’s been happening the past few years; mostly in the UK. Here’s a really good example of a duo ( Shelter Point) doing that in a headphone listening format that’s really good. There are obvious hints of Mount Kimbie, James Blake, Disclosure and a even little bit of Prince. Especially, in the track “Braille” where the opening keyboard sounds like the opening to Prince’s single “Let’s go crazy”. At the same time though, these guys are doing they’re own thing and have developed their own language.

For a group that only deveolped in August, I think they’re doing pretty well on a well received label, Hotflush. I’m really looking forward to see what they create next. Get this.
